Happy New Year! For my first post of the year, I wanted to talk about new years resolutions. I’ve never been a fan of them actually. When I have an idea or want to change something, I like to do it in that very moment. And I’ve tried to make resolutions in the past, but I either started them seconds after writing or they were just unrealistic. However, there are I few things I did throughout last year and a few things I would like to try out this year:
year in pixels. Last year I created a year in pixels chart. I created a grid of boxes, one for each day of the year. Every day, I would color in the box, based on my overall emotion that day. Each emotion had a different color: blue=sad, gold=happy, pink=tired, and so on. This chart showed me a few things was already aware of, but seeing it all on paper gave me more clarification. For example, I was overall happier in the summer, and overall sad in the other months. Want some ideas on how to make your own? Look here.
sleep log/sleep tracker. I’ve been working on my sleeping schedule more, and I recently found plogs, which are similar to the year in pixels charts. Basically, every morning record how the past night’s sleep was. Click here for ideas making your own.
These kind of charts are great for noticing patterns. For example, maybe the year in pixels chart will hep you notice that you’re happier in the spring, or maybe the sleeping log will help you realize that listening to music before sleep helps you sleep better.
prioritize. One thing I’ve been trying to do recently and will continue to do is prioritze self care more .I think self care is so important, and I find myself all too often given others advice on practicing better self care and self love but not applying those own tips to my life. This is a pretty difficult thing for me to do, but I’ve been working on it and will continue to do so.
That’s about it for this post! I have a product review coming up on Thursday, so be on the look out for that.
